Pressotherapy, or presso-massage, is a treatment aimed at reshaping and increasing lymphatic drainage. Pressotherapy is effectively a massage therapy treatment with beneficial effects on venous and lymphatic circulation.
Pressotherapy is therefore a treatment used to resolve water retention problems and reduce the imperfections caused by cellulite, such as fluid retention, loss of tone, and skin irregularities.
The answer to this question is yes. Pressotherapy and lymphatic and drainage massage treatments can be performed completely automatically thanks to innovative peristaltic pressotherapy machines (see complete catalog).
HOW IT WORKS IN PRACTICE
These machines (pressotherapy machine such as SMART 730W), through the application of a special suit composed of legs, armbands, and abdominal band, they exert calibrated pressure on both the lower and upper limbs and the abdominal area, addressing the causes of the main imperfections of the legs and hips.
The presso-drainer suit is divided into sectors into which air is blown following a precise and well-defined presso-massage pattern: a sequential compression programwith draining action.
This is thanks to a microprocessor that varies the amount of air contained within the individual blisters or air chambers. The result is physiologically peristaltic compression that, like a wave, uniformly envelops the limb from bottom to top, promoting blood and lymphatic flow.
The compression obtained thanks to a pressotherapy machine reduces the space between the adipose and circulatory systems: this facilitates contact between the fat cells and the circulating substances that serve to metabolize fats.
PRE-SET PROGRAMS COMMON
INTRODUCTION: To better understand the inflation type of each program, almost all pressomassage devices and machines have the option of launching a TEST cycle that will show the exact sequence.
SOFT LYMPH OF THE LOWER LIMBS (FEET, ANKLES, AND LEGS)
Pleasant and gentle treatment suitable for all users (see any contraindications in the dedicated section). It progressively and sequentially inflates a single sector until the complete cycle is completed.
CLASSIC PERISTALTIC PROGRAM (FEET-ANKLES, LEGS, ABDOMEN)
Ascending peristaltic treatment, with compression always in one direction, as in manual lymphatic drainage. It promotes blood and lymph flow, improving initial tissue stagnation.
INTENSE LYMPH PROGRAM (FEET-ANKLES-LEGS-ABDOMEN)
More intense massage treatment. It inflates the sectors in an ascending manner, maintaining pressure in all sectors until the end of the cycle for a deeper effect.
Please note: it is recommended to use the appropriate pressure intensity for each individual case/subject; see how to adjust the pressure exerted by the device in the user manual (which must be provided with the purchase of the pressotherapy machine).
PERISTALTIC PROGRAM UPPER LIMBS (ARMS)
Not all devices treat the upper limbs. This treatment generally performs an initial release at the axillary level and then begins the sequence from the hand/wrist to the upper arms. Typically, for the upper limbs, it's recommended to lower the pressure to a minimum (like 70 mmHg) for greater caution.
When we talk about cellulite, we always think that only women are affected.
In reality, there is a condition similar to cellulite that also affects men, albeit in smaller percentages, and is called hydrolipexia. There are essentially two differences between the female and male phenomenon: the origin and location of the fat deposits.
To date, we know (and have classified) three types of cellulite: edematous, soft, and firm.
Edematous Cellulite
The initial phase of cellulite is caused by fluid retention in adipose tissue, especially in areas of the body such as the ankles, calves, thighs, and arms. It is characterized by swelling (edema) due to fluid retention in the tissue and accumulation of water and fat in the cells.
Soft cellulite
The connective tissue in the hypodermis increases in volume, also causing the typical "orange peel" appearance. The nodules are visible only by pinching a fold of skin. Due to insufficient drainage of accumulated waste and insufficient oxygenation of the tissues, fat cells remain trapped in the surrounding tissues and the fibrosis process begins with the formation of the first micronodules.
Compact cellulite
The affected tissue is hard, cold, and painful. The skin surface is irregular due to sclerosis of the fibers, which form raised and sunken nodules. Blood and lymph flow is significantly slowed. The fat nodules are enlarged and painful to the touch. The micronodules transform into macronodules.
Through a pressotherapy massage performed with a peristaltic pressotherapy device (important: this device can also be used in beauty/wellness centers), you can see (from the first sessions) improvements in imperfections related to fluid retention, loss of tone, and skin irregularities.
PLEASE NOTE: The balance of the venous and lymphatic systems (lymph is a fluid that collects the body's waste products and flows through the lymphatic vessels) is altered, resulting in a slowing of blood flow and fluid retention in the tissues.
Pressotherapy massage obtained with a pressotherapy machine is an important treatment for psycho-physical well-being. It has no particular contraindications, but its use is not recommended (unless specifically approved by a doctor) in the following cases:
**IMPORTANT**: Pregnant women should avoid wearing an abdominal band, and in any case, it is strongly recommended to obtain a medical authorization.
SIDE EFFECTS
Use of the device should never cause pain, prolonged skin redness, or leave marks. Reported side effects are rare and involve mild superficial skin irritation. It all resolves itself in a few hours.
